Your teeth are important, and the loss of any of them can have significant consequences if not replaced. It not only affects your appearance and confidence, but can have an impact on your overall oral and general health too.
What causes tooth loss?
Decay – Bacteria and plaque present on the tooth can cause cavities if not effectively cleaned away. These weaken the tooth and can result in infection, requiring specialist treatment or ultimately removal.
Gum Disease – one of the most common reasons to lose a tooth is through advanced gum disease, known as periodontitis. This causes the gums to become inflamed and recede, reducing the support given to the tooth. The tooth can become loose and eventually fall out.
Trauma – physical accidents can affect the teeth, causing trauma, chips and breaks which may require the tooth to be removed. In some cases, trauma from an accident affects the gums and bone, and may only become apparent a long time afterwards, when extraction is the only solution.
Extraction – sometimes, following decay, accident or infection, the only option is to extract the tooth, to relieve pain and prevent further damage in the rest of your mouth.
Why do I need to replace missing teeth?
A missing tooth, or multiple missing teeth, can significantly affect the way you eat, speak and feel. A gap can cause your facial shape to lose structure, as your gum can shrink and remaining teeth move over time. This can have an effect on your appearance, making your face look older, with sagging and increased wrinkles present.
A missing tooth also means the gum and jawbone in the gap are no longer stimulated. They start to weaken and deteriorate, causing neighbouring teeth to lose support and potentially fall out too. The longer a gap is left, the more significant the damage to the jawbone, which could affect future restorative treatment.
"I am very pleased with the treatment I received. There was no discomfort during the course of treatment. The treatment has been beneficial because I can now eat anything either side of my mouth and I also I can smile better. I would strongly recommend Senthil to friends and family if they need similar care or treatment"

"Well cared for and full explanation to what was happening and good aftercare. Very slight discomfort during the treatment. I benifited from implant treatment as its much less hassle than having a denture"
