Smile Suffolk is committed to delivering the highest standards of patient care. We welcome referrals for oral surgery, dental implants, endodontic treatment and dentures. Patients travel to us from other dental practices in Ipswich, across the counties of Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire, and further afield.

Our referral charter sets out how we approach each and every referred case:

1. All referred patients are treated with the utmost care, dignity, respect and sensitivity
2. We will always return the patient to the referring dentist for their routine, ongoing care
3. We will only carry out treatments in accordance with the request made by the referring dentist
4. We aim to contact patients within 48 hours of the initial referral
5. All suitable treatment options will be fully explored with the patient during the initial consultation
6. After a full assessment, the patient will receive a comprehensive, fully costed plan and will be given the opportunity to discuss this with our treatment coordinator or a member of the clinical team
7. The treatment plan and fee estimate are usually sent to the patient within two weeks following the full assessment and receipt of all required scan reports. A copy of the treatment plan is also sent to the referring dentist
8. Any necessary additional treatment identified that falls outside this scope, or changes to the agreed treatment plan, will be communicated to the referring dentist as soon as possible and only carried out with the referring dentist’s and patient’s explicit consent
9. The referring dentist will be kept informed of progress throughout the treatment course
10. We actively encourage the involvement of the referring dentist, who would be welcome to observe their patient’s treatment chairside. In certain cases, the referring dentist’s nurse might also be able to observe the treatment
11. We aim to keep up to date with clinical and technological advances to provide the patient with the best that modern dentistry can offer. Our practice team is committed to continuing education to help deliver the optimal patient experience
12. We are committed to supporting the training and education needs of all our referring dentists and offer a range of formal and informal learning opportunities throughout the year
